Greensboro has been ranked the No. 1 city in North Carolina for small businesses by a business-to-business software and services review company.  The ranking underscores Greensboro's competitive business climate, and favorable tax rate among other factors that contribute to the City's appeal for small business owners. 

The 2024 Economic Development Review has been published. It provides information about the new projects and  significant achievements that transform the local economy as a result of public and private partnerships in our community.  

Boom Supersonic broke sound barrier with the XB-1 prototype of its Overture aircraft over the Mojave Desert in California. XB-1 represents the first time that a civil jet made in America has broken the sound barrier.  Overture is expected to be the first large commercial aircraft to have a net-zero carbon impact, running on 100% sustainable aviation fuel. The company plans to manufacture 33 commercial jets a year at the Superfactory at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

The City Planning Department’s annual report on key economic measures is now available online. The Growth and Development Trends Report covers recent local, regional, and national trends in metrics like population density, demographics, income rates, and more.

Contec Industrial Automation Solutions, a leading international engineering firm, has chosen Greensboro, North Carolina, for its newest sales and engineering office. This strategic expansion will lead to the creation of 24 high-quality jobs in Greensboro and an investment of $250,000.

Gilero a  manufacturer of medical and pharmaceutical devices announced its expansion in Greensboro. The company will invest $6.4 million and create 37 new jobs. The company will move into a building at 486 Gallimore Dairy Road and plans to begin operations next summer. 

IQE, a Welsh semiconductor firm announced an expansion on Gallimore Dairy Road that will create 109 new positions and generate a $305 million investment in the next few years. The average annual wage of the new positions will be $64,908. 

This new venue is set to bring 300 new jobs and a boost to our local economy. Topgolf is part of a larger commercial expansion, which includes new restaurants, entertainment, and hotels, reinforcing Greensboro’s growing reputation as a vibrant hub for both business and leisure.

Banknote Corporation of America has chosen Northeast Greensboro to expand its operation. The US-based commercial security printer will construct a modern 20,000-square-foot expansion off of 6109 Corporate Park Dr. This development will create 50 new jobs and generate an investment of $28 million. 

PartnerHero, a leading business process outsourcing organization that connects talented people from all over the world with innovative companies, announced the hiring of 200 new employees and investing nearly $7 million into a new operation in Greensboro at 7900 McCloud Rd.

Core Technology Molding Corporation, a minority-owned leader in plastic injection molding expands its operation in Greensboro. The company serves some of the largest Original Equipment Manufacturers around the world.  The expansion will yield to an additional investment of $27.8 million and creation of 26 new positions at an average wage of $58,885 in the next few years. 

James M. Pleasants, an industrial equipment company is planning to consolidate its headquarters, distribution and manufacturing at 238 Ritters Lake Road in Greensboro. It will invest $30 million in the new facility and hire 40 new employees with an average wage of $64,250.

Clearly Clean Products, LLC, a leader in sustainable packaging solutions, announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Greensboro. The company will invest over $25 million and create at least 80 new jobs in the Greensboro community that will strengthen the Triad’s position as a hub for innovation and eco-friendly industries.

Toyota has announced a new investment of nearly $8 billion that will add approximately 3,000 jobs at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC). This brings total investment to approximately $13.9 billion and job creation to more than 5,000 – further supporting Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to global vehicle electrification.

Honda Aircraft Company, a global leader in the aviation industry, has announced a significant expansion of its operation in Greensboro. With a groundbreaking investment of $55.7 million, Honda Aircraft is set to create 280 high-skilled jobs. With this investment, the company will produce the new light jet.

Environmental Air Systems has chosen the Reedy Fork Logistics center for its Industrial Group expansion. Located off Summit Avenue, the full-service mechanical contractor and custom-build HVAC equipment manufacturer will occupy the building's 500,000-square-feet. This expansion will create more than 200 new jobs in the community.

Toyota is investing an additional $2.1 billion in its NC battery manufacturing plant at the Greensboro-Randolph Megasite to support future expansion. This brings total investment in Toyota North Carolina to $5.9 billion.

Phase Change Solutions, global leader in temperature control and energy efficient solutions, plans to establish its new US Headquarters at 813 Winston St. This expansion will include a $4 million investment in the new facility and will create 51 new jobs in Greensboro. The average wage for new full-time positions will be $79,118 with additional benefits, and no new jobs will pay below $15 per hour.

Marshall USA, a subsidiary of Marshall Aerospace, selected Greensboro to build its facility at PTIA. The UK-based company specializes in maintaining, repairing and retrofitting Lockheed C-130 aircrafts. It will invest $50 million in the maintenance facility and hire 240 new employees with an average wage of $73,250. 

TAT Piedmont Aviation, an aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) company, plans to expand its operations near the Piedmont Triad International Airport and create 85 jobs. The company will invest $13.8 million to increase the service capacity of its Guilford County facilities, marking the latest expansion of the state’s vibrant aerospace industry in the Greensboro area.
